When are sign-ups?

Sign-ups for the spring recreational leagues normally start in February and continue through March. Sign-ups for clinics will vary depending on the clinic and the time of year.  The Summer league try-outs will be held in February or March.

How old does my daughter need to be to play softball?

We have softball for a range of ages.  For in-town recreational teams sign-ups are based on grade level and start as low as Kindergarten and go all the way through 6th grade. For Fall/Summer teams it is based on age group and currently going all the way to 14 years old.

My daughter has never played softball before. Will she be able to play?

Absolutely! We believe that every girl should get a chance to play as much as possible! Of course, due to the amount of positions on the field, and size of the team, there may be times when girls will have to be on the bench for an inning.

What do I need to bring/buy for my daughter to be able to play?

Our requirements for our in-town program are very little.  We do require everyone wear a helmet, and for sanitation reasons, we do recommend bringing your own. If you do not have your own bat, there are others who will be willing to share.  Cleats are not required. You may see some girls wearing protective facemasks in the field, but these are completely optional. The league holds an equipment trade-in day where people bring in old equipment that their daughter has outgrown that you can find quite a bit of things. Other than that, just bring a great attitude and a smile!

What day(s) / time(s) are games and practices?

The days/times for games depend on the age / grade. Normally the schedule is:
K (Mon/Wed)
1-2 (Tues/Thurs) 6-7
3-4 (Tues/Thurs) 6-7:30 (games can run a little longer)
5-6 (Mon/Wed/Fri) 6-7:30 (games can run a little longer)
Practices would be based on the coach of the team, and the availability of a field to practice on. Normally there is no play on the fields before 5pm.

Where are the games held?

Home games and games for k-2nd grade are held at Phillipps Brothers Memorial field on Mellen St. in Hopedale.
For grades 3-6, we partner with Milford and travel to some games in Milford (Memorial Field/High School fields) as well as use the Philipps Brothers field for Home games.
